U.S. Peace Corps Response ('11 - '12) - National Program Coordinator and Partner Liaison

Coordinated the start-up of the Stomping Out Malaria in Africa Program for Peace Corps' country program in Tanzania, as part of an international start-up team. Trained 160 volunteers and staff in malaria eradication and methods of community outreach and intervention. Introduced common web based social networking tools to processes of training, education, outreach and monitoring and evaluation.

Seattle Mental Health Institute (’95-’96) - Youth Outreach/Intervention

Short term one-on-one assignments with at-risk youth. Intervention and counseling strategies, one-on-one mentoring activities, and mental health team collaboration.

Banchero Friends Services (’95) - Sexual Education

Designed and implemented a sexual education program for developmentally disabled young adults that is continuing to be offered in King County (Seattle), Washington.

Banchero Friends Services (’93-’95) - Home Based Care Provider

Direct health and personal care provision for developmentally disabled adults. Administered medication and assisted personal hygiene, assisted most basic domestic necessities. Included activity programming and staff training.

Washington State Governor’s Advisory Council, Subcommittee on AIDS (’92) - Subcommittee Member and Policy Researcher

Researched and provided AIDS prevention program and policy recommendations to the Governor and Legislature of the State of Washington, as part of a public health strategy that was among the first in its field in the United States.

North Puget Sound AIDS Foundation (’90-’91) - Community Health Outreach Worker

Designed and implemented a community outreach and intervention program that was among the first of its kind in the United States. Program activities included intervention strategies, counseling and service referral, community outreach and collaborative networking.

U.S. Peace Corps (’86 –’88) - International Community Development Volunteer

Two year assignment in Dogondoutchi, Niger, in sub-Saharan West Africa. Served with Ministry of Mines and Energy on a national environmental conservation project involving improved cookstoves and forestry conservation. Community education presentations, mobilization of trainees, hands-on training sessions and networking in rural and semi-rural areas of Niger, West Africa.

Seattle League of Conservation Voters (’84-’86) - Co-founder and Community Organizer

Founded, as one of a team of four, the Seattle League of Conservation Voters, a 501-C4 Political Action Committee of 25 paid staff, 200 active volunteers, and an annual budget of a half million self-produced dollars. Responsible for demographics, targeting and outreach, precinct organizing, voter mobilization and GOTV strategies, special event fundraising, accounting, payroll, and election commission reporting, management and supervision of paid and volunteer staff, staff training and development, organizational development and capacity building.

Community Action Network (’82-’84) - NGO(CBO) Capacity Building, Consumer Advocacy and Civil Rights

Field Manager, fundraiser and canvasser, including regional management and training consulting in the campaign offices of Community Action Network organizations in nine major cities of five east coast states. Performed staff development and training activities, and assisted with administrative capacity building for this network of consumer advocacy and civil rights organizations including: Brown Lung Association of North Carolina, New York Community Action Network, New York Public Interest Research Group, North Carolina Public Interest Research Group, Ohio Public Interest Campaign, Pennsylvania Public Interest Campaign, and Virginia Action. Issues included worker's rights, public utility regulation and consumer advocacy, voter's rights, environmental issues, and electoral work.
